Co-learning workshop #26201

Co-designing alternative economic models amidst the current funding and resource landscape

Date August 26, 2025 (Tuesday)
Time 2:30pm–3:50pm (1h20m)
Kuala Lumpur time / UTC+8
Venue Rooms 2.11, Second Floor, AICB Centre for Excellence

With the near-collapse of the US government foreign aid funding ecosystem, a retreating philanthropic landscape and an emerging polycrisis, what is the impact on our work in digital rights and in tech & social justice?

How can we financially resource organising in this area, and what are the shifts in the ecosystem that need to happen to sustain and grow the work of civil society actors in this field? How can we organise differently, or reimagine the economic model that underpins this work?

This session aims to build a collective understanding of the seismic changes that have taken place in the civic funding landscape, and crowdsource strategies, ideas and alternative models for financing to keep our work alive and thriving.
